Visto i prezzi che hanno (n'altro po' e regalano i server ) sto valutando di prendere un server da loro...

Per esempio questo qui:

44euro al mese senza limiti di traffico e con quell'hardware che non è da buttare mi sembrano pochi...

d'accordo che il contratto minimo è di 12mesi... ma se funziona come dovrebbe lo tengo senza problemi per 12mesi...


Fino a qualche tempo fa (15giorni? 1mese?) il limite di traffico c'era (mi pare 3tera sul più piccolo e 6tera su quello più grande) ora invece hanno tolto tutti i limiti...

conosco una persona che ne ha un po' (ancora dai tempi di quando c'erano i limiti) e ha detto che ora senza limiti ne ha uno che carica costantemente a 40mbit... e regge picchi oltre gli 80mbit....

Quando sono andato però a piazzare l'ordine nella schermata dove si scelgono le opzioni c'era solo la voce "10mbit flatrate".... e li mi sono fermato

Altra cosa che mi interesserebbe è la possibilità di avere centos4 anzichè fedora3... in quel senso sono "flessibili"?

Qualcuno ha esperienze dirette con loro? Parlano un minimo di inglese (almeno nei ticket)?

Ho mandato un mail a sales@... in inglese ma mi devono ancora rispondere (l'ho mandata ieri... ma io sono abituato con ev1servers che entro 10minuti rispondono a tutto e in qualcunque orario della giornata )

Aspetto i vostri commenti... o magari suggerimenti... cerco un isp che abbia 100mbit unmetered shared con cui si riesca a fare tanto.... ma tanto traffico (no FDC servers e reseller di fdc... grazie )

1) does there is a basic support (at least in tickets) in english language?

2) if there's no english support, is possible to have the server for less time (like 6month)?

before having a so long contract i would try to see if i can deal with you or if due to the language barrier i cannot deal with you.... (i will pay with VISA)

3) where can i find the TOS and the AUP? generally when i've big files to distribute from my website instead of setting up anonymous ftps / dedicated httpd daemons i prefer to distribute them via bittorrent and ed2k network (to consume less bandwidth and server resources) is this allowed with server4you?

4) is possible to have the server setted up with centos4.3 x86_64 and plesk8 (if installing plesk8 is a problem can you just provide the licence and i'll take care of the installation of the control panel)?

5) while going to place the order i've seen that the available options in the order form was:

with 10mbit flatrate selected... but i thougth it's 100mbit flatrate.. not just 10mbit... :/


is that a typo or the internet BW availaible to any single server is really just 10mbit???

Is it possible to have the server installed with "fedora core 3" (without plesk) but to pay the additional 10eur/month to have a valid plesk 7.5 license that i'll take care to install myself?

Otherwise can i order the server with debian 3.1 + plesk 7.5, then, when i got it, backup the plesk key, ask for a server re-image versus "fedora core 3 plain" (the "power restore" is free, right? and i can switch from one system to another, right?) and after that i'll install plesk 7.5 myself over the "fedora core3 plain" using the license i backed-up from the debian 3.1 + plesk installation?

vediamo che dicono ... e poi si procede con l'ordine....

ah.... ora hanno tolto la scritta "10mbit flatrate" quando si va a fare l'ordine!!!

un mio conoscente che ha dei server da loro (quelli da 80e passa euro al mese) ha detto che c'hanno tanta di quella banda da far paura... (mi dice di avere un server che fa 40mbit 24h/24h... ma 40 solo perchè quelli gli servono... nelle ora di picco riesce a fare 80mbit di burst senza problemi)

aspettate a spargere la voce che mi faccia l'ordine... che non si trovino senza banda e tornino al modello "limitato" (su webhostingtalk.com dicono che danno 10mbit capped e che non è possibile fare 100mbit ora che hanno traffico illimitato)

fino a 2 settimane fa tutti i loro piani erano limitati (mi pare 2tera sui + piccoli e 6tera sul + grande) ma in fase d'ordine mi sembra si potesse scegliere la configurazione 10mbit flatrate (conveniva per i piccoli)

sempre fino a 2 settimane fa anche la loro divisione "professionale" era molto limitata (http://www.plusserver.de/) davano max 2tera per server mi pare...

ora invece hanno tolto i limiti su server4you.de e alzato a 7.5tera su plusserver...

il cambio è molto recente... quindi una svista gliela si può concedere

forse un po' OT: qualcuno ha esperienze di upgrade da fedora core 3 a centos4 tramite yum e non tramite i cd di installazione? mi dicono sia possibile... ma che bisogna avere (*)

no, non è il problema di fortuna o altro il passaggio non è troppo traumatico nel senso che tu vai a installare un RPM base che contiene tutti i file base richiesti da centos, come file che indicano il so installato e simili dopo di che deve reinstallare TUTTI i pacchetti per metterli in versione centos e li può sorgere qualche problemuccio, ma non troppo traumatico comunque

come vedi mi sento di dire che il ping schizza alto NON PER PROBLEMI DI RETE... ma perchè il loro server/router prima del server sono configurati in maniera strana per rispondere agli ICPM (infatti windows l'ultimo lo considera... mentre il mio cisco non lo considera ai fini del traceroute...)

la mia esperienza con i load balancer non è molto approfondita... anzi... e soprattutto non ho la + pallidea idea su come si comportino con i ping.... forse tentano di rispondere loro ma non nel modo "usuale"?

ho aggiunto dopo il discorso del load balancer

a me capitano spesso problemi di peering (proprio con seabone) verso gli usa.... con adsl4mega che non superano i 15kb/s e se provo mtr perde un desfo di pacchetti già @telecom e @seabone ... in genere però in 12 ore torna normale ed iniziano a scaricare ai soliti 450k... però da fastidio

su webhostingtalk.com se ne parla pocchissimo... conosco gente che è in colocation presso i loro datacenter e sono contenti... ho un tipo che era contentissimo dei server che ha con loro soprattuto ora che può fare tutto il traffico che vuole...

il dubbio resta sull'assistenza... cosa succede se si fuma un hd? che tempi di risposta hanno? booooh...

però... se tutti aspettiamo nessuno mai li prova

il mio dubbio è: quello da 44euro o quello da 64???

se prendo quello da 44... ok... al massimo mi fregano meno soldi... ma se per caso va bene... con solo 1giga di ram come faccio a fare 80mbit continuati 24/24??? DDD
